Why Try Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine?

Early prevention is the key to alleviating symptoms and disease. Some of us are born with genetic predispositions and acupuncture can help to realign and correct imbalances.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing, used for thousands of years. Long before penicillin was invented dynasties in Asia were reliant on Chinese Medicine to survive. Acupuncture is based on the principle that there are natural laws which govern the world around us and our bodies as well. These laws describe the life force, or Qi, that moves in all things. When Qi is flowing properly, we feel healthy and positive. Yet if Qi is blocked we will experience discomfort, pain and disease. This all pertains to the Mind, Body, Spirit.

The pathways or meridians are the locations for Qi to flow, we can access this QI as it surfaces at precise locations on the body. Qi may be stimulated with heat, or acupuncture needles, or acupressure massage. This stimulation of acupuncture points will influence the organ system associated with the meridians and points selected.

Most people who seek out acupuncture find it as a last resort, to back pain or fertility, headaches, etc. What most people fail to know, acupuncture is best used as a preventative treatment to ward off the stress of life and work. Maintain the body as a smooth running machine in optimal function.

The other and maybe most significant result of acupuncture is the effect on the spiritual and mind levels. No other form of medicine can achieve clear thought, deep peaceful states, freedom of fear, anger, and destructive thoughts with out major side effects from medications.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

This is discussed at the first free consultation. We aim at resolving your issues in the most timely manner. Many imbalances can be greatly improved or corrected in 3-4 treatments. Cronic illness will require more time. The first treatment is usually an hour and a half. Subsequent treatments are one hour.

What are Acupuncture Needles Like?

The needles used for treatment are extremely fine gauge, disposable and sterilized. Heat may also be used when appropriate. Treatments are usually experienced as deeply relaxing and meditative. Or energizing and pleasant. I personally use a variety of needle sizes and gauges according to the area to be treated. I have minute needles the size of three human hairs.

Do the Needles Hurt?

No they do not hurt, you will feel a connection once they are inserted but it is a relaxing feeling. They are so thin that they are inserted using a guide tube. Only pre sterilized disposable needles are used.

What Does Acupuncture Treat?
Many people come to acupuncture for help with specific issues and symptoms. Some people choose acupuncture to strengthen their immune system, and constitution, while others consider acupuncture because they just don’t feel quite right.

Yet they cannot attribute it to an actual illness or symptom. Acupuncture can be used for all of the above, and as a complement to conventional medicine in the treatment of acute and chronic disease.

What is Traditional 5 Element Acupuncture?

The five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water, are represented by five emotions, five pairs of internal organs, and five specific areas which exhibit our strengths as well as our weaknesses. According to this tradition there is a link between physical symptoms and emotional imbalance, or distress. Each element is correlated to internal organs, and in nature each element relates to each season of the year,as the phases from which all things pass from their beginning to their end.

The aim of five element acupuncture is not only to address the complaint, but to provide support for that weakness. To live life as fully as possible and discover a greater sense of self.

What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (F.R.)

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture specifically affects the face while simultaneously treating the underlying factors that contribute to the aging process. Treatment is aimed at stimulating Qi and blood flow to the face reducing the visible signs of aging.

Facial rejuvenation may erase as many as five to fifteen years from the face with results after just a few treatments. Fine lines maybe entirely eliminated, while deeper lines and wrinkles are diminished.

A treatment of F.R helps stimulate collagen production, muscle tone, brightening of the eyes, dermal contraction, and improves hormonal balance to help with acne and skin disorders.

Treatment plan is a series of seven to ten treatments, once or twice per week.
